As I explained in a recent post, I've had to purge my closet many times over during this weight-loss journey because clothes become too baggy within a few months; and when I say "baggy," I mean the articles of clothing look like tents on me when they once fit me perfectly.
Yesterday I decided to go through my closet again and as a result I have three trash bags full of clothes to give away. All of these articles were purchased this year, most within the last six months. Keep in mind, too, that I've been buying clothes in smaller sizes to have something to wear in the future so when I say I owned these items for six months, it means I actually could only wear them a few times before they became obsolete.
I still can't believe how much I've shrunk. Even though I see the numbers on the scale dropping and I know intellectually that I've lost a considerable amount of weight, the visual proof when I don "old" clothes is still inconceivable to me.
I've kept two items from the old me's wardrobe as proof of where I was and where I never want to be again:
(1) a pair of pants which became too tight to wear around 2010 but now fit me like elephant pants. I previously posted photos in my blog of what they look like on me now; and
(2) a jeans jacket I wore for years. This is what it looks like on me now:
Although this jacket was never tight on me, I could only button it. There was no overlapping the front panels at all and the cuffs didn't go below my wrists. (The shadow taking the photo is Fla.)
Now I can wrap it around myself! This jacket is a size 22/24. Right now I'm wearing a size 14.
My name is Vilma, and after a lifelong battle with obesity, I'm finally winning the war after losing 135 lbs. (so far)! I titled this blog "Blossoming Vilma" because that's exactly how I feel: I'm finally blossoming into the person I always wanted to be. I detail my journey here in the hopes that people can take something away that will turn their lives around, too! Whatever path you take, good luck on your journey for a healthier, happier you!
