My trainer, Flaminia ("Fla"),
hasn't monitored my food diary in many months because I got the hang of
it. The evidence has been that the scale numbers keep going down, albeit
slowly. I've been very good on my own, but, somehow, she seems to know
when I stray. I think she's got a built-in "Vilma radar."
GRRRRR!!!!!!
For example, I used to drink Starbucks almost daily. Fla wanted me to stay away from Starbucks altogether because she pointed out to me how many calories my usual lattes are even with non-fat milk. Since I don't deprive myself of things I like, I allow myself to have them infrequently. I swear though, when I do consume one, Fla will ask me "So how's the food going?" even though I know she hasn't checked my food diary on MyFitnessPal ("MFP") where she'd see the entry. Somehow she just knows! Now whenever I go to Starbucks, I expect to come out of the store with my coffee in hand to find Fla standing outside with a look of disgust on her face, with arms crossed, tapping her foot impatiently, and shaking her head at me in total disapproval.
Right
now Fla's in Europe for a couple of weeks. This morning I woke
up to find an email from MFP saying Fla posted a message on my account. I
couldn't WAIT to see what she said. I eagerly opened my account and
started laughing out loud. This is what she wrote, "Are you omitting
items from the food journal???? You are being really good & boring.
LOL." The irony is that yes,
sometimes I have been omitting items from my food diary. When I admitted it, she responded with: "I knew it!!!! I was like there's no way my Vilma would've left some 400 calories behind." Caught again! Somehow Fla always cracks me up while annoying the hell out of me at the same time!
Although I always track every morsel of food I eat during the day, sometimes late at night I'll have a banana, a plum, a low-calorie rice cake, or a handful of nuts. Because it's the last food I eat for that day and I know I'm still within my 1,700 calories (1,500 daily quota plus 200 because I'm active now), I don't usually log this last item in. Well, Fla caught me again! Good grief, that woman doesn't let me get away with ANYTHING!

If
I whine that she's being mean to me, she'll say, "Well, who's lost over 75 lbs. since last
November?" She's got a point!
